Understanding Nobara Kugisaki’s Cursed Technique and Skills In Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen was filled with action and anime fans witnessed two major character deaths in season 2. Nanami Kento is the first one and the second one is our tomboy character that you all have come to know and love, Kugisaki Nobara. Both perished at the hands of Mahito, but that in no way implies that they died without purpose.
Nanami was ripe for death and it was verified in Chapter 236 and the same as Nobara she also fulfilled her fate saying that her life shouldn’t be so bad after all. This kind of behavior can be explained by their warrior-like nature which is rooted in their cursed technique and other related skills. Teamwork is not a strong point with Nobara, who utilizes a cursed technique that even she came up with and an array of weapons that are unexpected. Now it is time to take a closer look at why Nobara is so interesting and analyze the principles of her Cursed Techniques.
The Straw Doll Technique Explained
Nobara’s signature technique is the Straw Doll Technique, a traditional style passed down through her family. It might seem unconventional channeling cursed energy through a straw doll and nails but Nobara’s execution is anything but ordinary. Her cursed technique or method is also a traditional one and she learned it from her grandmother who said that it originated from the wara ningyo ritual of Japan but this girl is less than seventy years old and she says that she is a very modern woman.
In essence, Nobara applies cursed energy for the tool set she has in her arsenal a hammer, nails, and the infamous straw doll to advance her attacks on the target. Fingers are blunt and nails are conductors of her ill-fated powers and she can direct it whichever way she wants. Since it is her natural cursed technique, she can use it both in her attacks and defense.
Nobara swings a hammer and the nails flies to the target with force, similar to bullets being shot out of a gun. Due to the cursed energy, the nails rise up off the wall it will then be simple to strike at them wherever is intended. Nobara combines this technique with two other abilities: Resonance and Hairpin.
Resonance Explained
This is where Nobara’s technique gets truly interesting. If a part of the cursed spirit is separated from its body, like a severed limb, Nobara can attach it to the straw doll. This establishes a powerful resonance, allowing her to inflict critical damage on the spirit even if it’s out of reach
Resonance is Nobara’s signature move and the move she uses for basics to exorcise simple curses. She uses it to prevent curses from running away because as she has stated, she is capable of exorcising them no matter the location.
This move was very helpful to wear off her poison and consequently cause discomfort to Choso’s brothers Eso and Kechizu. Its Rot technique begins when their blood was spilled into Nobara. But that turned out to be true of themselves as well because the blood was connected to Nobara’s blood, which that technique needed.
After she shocked both brothers with Resonance over and over again, Eso was forced to shut down her Decay method to show that it was the perfect counter move for her. Not only objects but souls as well can resonate, which was proved useful when she was fighting Mahito in the Shibuya arc.
She was able to attack Mahito’s soul directly since she could use Resonance on his body; thus, she initiated the technique by using a nail to stab Mahito’s forehead.
Therefore a line of spikes stood up from Mahito’s chest when Resonance activated and impacted towards the full body. As a result, Yuji could fight against Mahito’s main body, he wasn’t just powerless at all. Then the pain inflicted on Mahito’s main body was transferred to his twin who also was in a lot of pain.
Nobara’s Hairpin Technique
Besides Resonance, Nobara employs another technique called Hairpin
Hairpin is actually the development of the Straw Doll technique, wherein she blows her cursed energy into nails, then throws them at the opponent. Although it may not appear to be planned, Nobara strategically positions them in a way that will warrant the most amount of damage on her rival.
The primary function of Nobara’s hairpin is in the link with her cursed energy. In combat it is used as a remote detonator for the nails she infuses with her cursed energy. This is done with the snap of her fingers along with a message delivered to the massive amount of Cursed energy that runs through the nails. thereby creating huge explosions.
Nobara used this form of the technique against Eso; however, a superior version was used against Mahito where the nails were to be placed even more accurately than before. With that, along with Resonance, Nobara was able to render Mahito and his double unable to move.
Kugisaki Can Also Throw Black Flash
It is not just her cursed technique that is depicted as Nobara’s strength throughout this show. She is definitely not an amateur when it comes to fighting, she is fast, and has a quick response to any attack.
All these three techniques, as pointed out by the series, can be amplified further when Black Flash has been used because it puts the consumer in the zone of full adrenaline as like that of athletes. Delivering cursed energy within 0 is a powerful ability and a great way to take advantage of the rules about moving energy between targets. In less than one microsecond of a physical contact, it is capable of creating a space distortion called Black Flash known to few individuals. When a sorcerer does this, their dark curse illumination becomes black and the force behind it is roughly equivalent to a normal hit of the power of 2.5
Kechizu becomes a near death state by Nobara utilizing Black Flash for the first time together with Yuji.
Standing out by her cursed technique, combat capabilities, and determination, the main heroine of Jujutsu Kaisen Nobara Kugisaki is a very useful addition to the universe. She is a reminder that sometimes, the greatest weapons do not have to be glamorous and when the spirit of creativity is added into the mix for combating evil then the world is a safer place.
